How to get out (escape) from Imperial City

There’s a few undocumented methods of leaving Imperial City.

Now that the Imperial City DLC is free, escaping through the tunnels is more dangerous than ever.

Thankfully, there are a few undocumented methods of leaving Imperial City.

Updated March 2022

1. Enter an Alliance Campaign (Best!)

Press L and just enter a campaign.

It will work even in combat, but there’s about a 20 second delay and you’ll need to Accept via the Notifications panel if you are in combat.

Tip: Find a door to another district and open it. You’ll be granted invulnerability if you succeed in opening a  door. However, you may get revealed for a second when opening a door.

2. Accept the Clockwork City zone quest

Go to Collections, Stories tab, Zone DLC and take the Clockwork City  quest

It will not work if you have already done it or the quest chain is in progress.

Will not work in combat mode (portal will be inaccessible)

3. Use a Sigil of Imperial Retreat

Get it from the General Tal Var merchant at the sewers base.

Costs 20k AP and you will be revealed (if you were sneaking) during the porting animation

It ports you to the base

Will not work in combat mode

4. Queue for a battleground

Press p and queue for a Battleground as a tank or any other role which gives instant queue (for fast queuing).

You’ll inconvenience others and this article’s gonna get hate comments just for this. But the option’s there.

5. Log off and login

Only works if the campaign if full which is a high possibility now since the DLC is free.

You’ll automatically get kicked out to overland area if you try to login back

6. Enter the Imperial City Prison or White Gold Tower dungeon and exit

You’ll be brought back to the original location where you entered Imperial City from

However, you may be revealed for about 2 seconds (not tested personally) as there is a quest dialog when trying to enter the dungeon.

There’s also a possibility that the entrance could have gankers waiting to take you out in a surprise attack

7. Type /stuck in the Chat window

It will cost half of the Tel Var you have in your inventory so it’s only a little difference from getting killed

8. Sneak through the tunnels

Why would you do this when there’s other methods up there?
